Simple Tips

Safe Sliding at the Park

When we slide with toddlers our impulse is to sit them on the slide between our legs.

But this position can put them at risk of breaking their legs. When they reach the bottom of the slide and put their feet on the ground, the force of our bodies behind them can jam their legs into the ground.

Another concern is that kids’ sneakers or other rubber soled shoes can make them slow or stop on the slide. If we’re right behind them, the force of us moving forward can also cause leg injuries.

Now we put our kids on top of our legs so their bodies are on our laps, not the slide. Then we hold on tight and enjoy the ride!
