Reducing Our Carbon Emissions
The average American creates more than 20 tons of carbon dioxide or related gases a year, the average person on the planet, 4.5 tons.
20 tons is an overwhelming amount. In fact, it may feel too big to tackle. But it’s not if we keep perspective and decide to do what we can–though we soon bump into that underlying question, how far are we willing to go/change/revise?
Andrew Postman tackles this challenge in his NY Times article, “The Energy Diet” (reprinted in The Green Guide).
It’s a great place to start changing (and take a look at Kelly’s efforts).
For motivation, rent An Inconvenient Truth or read Elizabeth Kolbert’s Field Notes from a Catastrophe: Man, Nature, and Climate Change.
