Simple Tips

Easy Gardening with Kids

Children have terrific imaginations, a boon for the less is more approach to gardening.

We call it light gardening. It’s so easy and fun, we garden every afternoon.

All we need are a few gardening tools–our essentials include a rake, watering pail, bucket and shovel–and some water. Gardening can be done with dirt, grass or even plants.

Bring a non-precious pie pan or baking tin from the kitchen and make mud pies and muffins.

Creative gardening works for a range of age levels, a young toddler can play with a bucket of water and watering pail while his preschool age sister shovels worms into her own bucket.

Materials:
Gardening tools
Watering pail (and lots of other great gear all in one spot)
Shovels
Bucket/Pail

Age: Toddlers and preschoolers
