How To Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk by Faber and Mazlish
Highlights: How to Talk So Kids Will Listen by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish is one of those essential parenting books. We learn a little every time we read it.Faber and Mazlish outline how we can better connect and support our kids in the small moments that make up our days. Their advice is down to earth, compassionate and inspiring.Based on their years of parenting workshops, How To Talk uses comic strips as demonstrations and a workbook format to help us think about how we talk and listen to our kids, how we might improve.
Lowlights: Best read in chapters, or figure out in the beginning how to read and apply at a comfortable pace.
Why We Like It: A book we read and reread (a Kelly favorite). The chapter Praise is incredibly helpful. A great resource for the front lines of parenting, also good for parenting groups and parent ed programs.
Child’s Age: Any age (for perspective and languaging).
