Natural Bug Spray
We found a natural bug spray that works, Quantum Buzz Away Extreme
We use Buzz Away mostly in the afternoon and evening, and when we’re heading to the river or lake. We keep one bottle at home and the other in our backpacks, so we’re always prepared (at least for bugs).
We apply Buzz Away mainly to clothes–hats, shirts, pants/shorts. When the bugs are bad we’ll put some on legs for the kids (and adults) popular with mosquitoes.
We never apply to faces and are careful to avoid everyone’s hands, including our own. For children under a year old, consult your pediatrician–and always read the label.
Bug spray days are bath/wash hair days. We put clothes and hats in the washing machine that night.
We notice the Buzz Away bottles tend to leak, so make sure the caps are on tight.

Love this stuff. And the Burt’s Bees Natural Spray, too. Also the California Baby with Citronella. We are in an extreme mosquito situation here– literally the worst in over 50 years this summer. Have a friend in Dallas who says every morning she and her son “run” to the car so they won’t get bit. No way that only putting it on the clothes will work. However, gives me pause to realize I might need to bathe and wash their clothes right away. Haven’t been that diligent. Good reminder as a goal if it’s not something I do every day.
