Nonstick pans connected to lower birthweight

When nonstick pans are heated to a certain temperature, they release toxic chemicals like perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) a likely carcinogen. Now a recent study connects an exposure to PFOAs to the possibility of lower birth weights.

While more studies are needed, there are great alternatives to nonstick pans–in fact, we find they’re even better.

We use stainless steel, iron (which adds iron to the food we’re cooking) and ceramic cookware. A stainless steel frying pan with some olive oil works just as well for scrambled eggs in the morning, and it’s easy to clean.
