The top 5
Organic Snacks for the Park
After dried or fresh fruit, these snack foods are easy to slip into our bag for the park. Some of these foods can be choking hazards so toddlers need extra supervision, and probably smaller portions than a whole granola bar.
1. Newman’s Own Spelt Pretzels. Our kids love these pretzels. We usually pack a little extra for ourselves.
2. Barbara’s Crunchy Granola Bars taste sweet without too much real sweet.
3. Cascadian Farms Chewy Fruit Granola Bars are easy to chew and satisfying.
4. FruitaBu Smooshed Fruit Flats are addictive, we buy them in boxes and limit intake to 1-2 per day. Look for flavors in strawberry, raspberry, grape, apple and apricot. Dried fruit is another favorite, especially when mixed–raisins, apricots and apples.
5. Lundberg Brown Rice Cakes are fun to crunch. Kids like to break them up so they get “more snack”.
Other park snack notes: To avoid plastic baggies for unpackaged foods, we use small, safe plastic containers making sure that each child has their own. And we bring Kleen Kanteen water bottles, our bag gets heavy carrying one for each child, but saves arguments and spreading germs.
