Simple Tips
How Kids’ Clothes Move with Them
The best clothes for young kids are the ones that move with them.
As little ones learn to lift their legs higher and stretch their arms further, it’s important that what they wear allows them a full range of motion.
Pants that crawl, roll, climb and tumble around on the floor with them. We’ve found skirts and dresses can get in the way of crawling and climbing, so we tend to save them for special less-active (if there are any!) occasions.
We also roll up long pant legs and shirt sleeves that hang over feet or hands to prevent any tripping or slipping.
And we keep tabs on the temperature and our kids’ activity level as babies and toddlers often don’t tell us they’re cold or hot until they get really uncomfortable.
For material, comfy cotton is our favorite. Stretchy for bending arms and legs, soft on gentle skin, cozy for naps, not too tight or too loose.
