Comfortable Nursing Bras

The best nursing bra is all about personal choice.

When we’re pregnant, nursing bras appear to be large, rather intimidating contraptions. The key is to dive in anyway.

We like different nursing bras for different occasions–night nursing, walking around town (or wearing a white T-shirt), hanging around the house.

We buy a few different models before the baby arrives. Once we’re breastfeeding, we figure out which one(s) we like best, and if possible return the rest and get a few more of our favorite.

Our (non-organic) bra picks:

1. The Medela Comfort Light Support Bra is good for night nursing. The bra stays put and is easy to get on and off.

2. Bravado’s Lifestyle Microfiber Bra is Lyndsey’s favorite for day to day. The underwire is comfortable and doesn’t dig in, even when pregnant.

3. Japanese Weekend’s Hug Bra is another good night nursing bra. Soft, comfortable and relatively attractive. Though for the larger breasted, breasts may fall out while sleeping which isn’t so comfortable.

4. Glamourmom tanks are Kelly’s standbys during the newborn stage. The cotton softens like wearing a T-shirt, sometimes the elastic can feel tight, depends on the kind of support desired.

5. Gap tanks (with shelf bra) are another Kelly old-reliable, given her less is more chest size. Good for layering shirts over during the day. They don’t hold breastpads well, so during leaking stages not so great.
