In a Nutshell: Dialogues with Parents at Acorn Hill A Waldorf Kindergarten by Nancy Foster
Highlights: In a Nutshell: Dialogues with Parents at Acorn Hill is a thoughtful collection of question and answers between a Waldorf kindergarten teacher and parents of children in her classes.
Nancy Foster explains the classroom environment, school rhythms, children’s play, and shares ideas about how parents can support preschool age children at home. Waldorf kindergartens usually include children ages four to six.
Lowlights: We don’t have any to report.
Why we like it: A great perspective of Waldorf early childhood education, preschool in general and parenting young children. Easy to read and skip around the chapters. Foster helps us frame what we’re wanting in a preschool for our children.
Child’s age: Four to six years old, also helpful for preschool age kids (2.9 to 6).
have you heard of “school as a journey” by torin finser? he writes about his experience as a waldorf grades teacher, going from 1st through 8th with the same kids.
Yes!
School as a Journey is a great perspective of the Waldorf grades.
A Waldorf parent recommended it to me and I’m now reading through for the second time as I look more closely at Waldorf.
